Job Title: – ALMT IT WARM – Senior Sybase Database Developer (Techno-Functional role)

Position Purpose: To contribute as a programmer to application development, enhancements, maintenance and support activities for multiple applications across all SDLC phases.

 

Responsibilities

Direct Responsibilities

Requirements & Analysis

· Interact with functional and technical representatives of project teams to understand business functionalities, technical modules, integration mechanisms, and data sources.

· Translate business requirements into functional specifications.

· Map business rules to technical workflows.

· Estimate efforts and schedules for various modules and meet deadlines.

Design

· Design and develop procedural programming solutions as required, including application design, development, testing, support, enhancements, and bug-fixing.

· Create functional and technical documentation, such as entity relationship diagrams, unit-testing documentation, and technical/functional design specifications for the deliverables.

· Design and develop SQL queries for required interfacing solutions.

Development

· Write database code using best practices whenever possible and assist in tuning and refactoring legacy database code.

· Write queries using complex joins, filter criteria, and type casting when required.

· Ensure that project and organizational standards are followed during various phases of the software development life cycle and day-to-day development work.

Testing & Validation

· Validate that outputs meet business expectations (Functionally / Technically) during the validation phase.

· Prepare test plans and conduct Unit, Integration, Regression, Performance, and Functional testing.

· Carry out detailed unit testing based on the scenarios provided.

· Review test cases prepared by the IT Dev team.

Support & Maintenance

· Provide L3 Support, analyse and solve problems in coordination with the team.

· Debug issues in SQL queries or any database constructs.

· Ensure high application quality and ensure any issues are fixed on a priority basis.

· Apply working knowledge of performance tuning to maintain system efficiency.

Contribute towards innovation; suggest new technical practices for efficiency improvement.

Should participate in stand ups and contribute to various project and organizational processes defined.

Technical & Behavioral Competencies

Analysis & Requirements

· Thorough understanding of the complete Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

· Strong understanding of Credit Risk and Liquidity Risk within ALMT scope. 

· Ability to understand business requirements easily and translate them into functional requirements.

· Experience in preparing Technical /Functional specifications and performing (UAT).

Design & Development

· Experience in technical analysis and database design.

· Strong knowledge of writing complex SQL queries involving multiple joins, stored procedures, triggers, views, cursors, and indexes.

· Proficient in query tuning and performance optimization.

· Strong knowledge of version control tools, preferably SVN or Bitbucket.

· Good knowledge in Appeon Power Builder 

· Good knowledge on Linux/Unix environment, shell scripting.

· Basic knowledge of Java

· Self-motivated with good interpersonal skills 

· Good communication skills.

· Ability and willingness to learn and work with diverse technologies (languages, frameworks, and tools).
